Welp, I’m back

Not like anyone ever reads this but I got a lot of free time so let’s get to it. My last post was in August of 2016 I believe. Since then life has been great which I will quickly recap.

And there you go that’s the recap. I mean I also graduated college but that’s nothing special compared to meeting the legendary Taylor Swift.

First World Problems

This week was supposed to be one of the best weeks of my young life. I was meant to go to Wrigley Field and witness my boys clinch the NL Central. I was supposed to get my invite to the North American World Championship Qualifier at UDS today. Then on Wednesday, I was expected to see Green Day. What a fantastic week that would’ve been!

Of course, none of that is going to happen. The Cubs ended up giving the win away to the Brewers, and there was no party in Wrigleyville. Until the Cardinals lost about an hour later, but I was already gone. The Cubs ended up celebrating the next day. Would’ve been nice to see but whatever.

Today I woke up very excited to attend UDS. I’ve been dying to play yugioh since the last time I played was regional and I didn’t get to finish the event, even though I was on a roll. Darn you adult responsibilities! After getting ready for the event, I had trouble finding my bus card. I saw it a couple of days ago, and I couldn’t find it. I spent 20 minutes trying to look for it but decided to buy a new one.

After a short adventure downtown Chicago, I arrived at the venue. I quickly went to register for the regional qualifier. I went to write out my decklist, and some random asked for trades. I told him I would trade him later and he sat down and watched me fill out my decklist which I hate when people do that.Turns out this man was my opponent, and he knew exactly what I was playing and what cards I was siding. How fucking fair.

Of course, I lost and lost 2 other regional qualifiers round 1 because I suck. The biggest blow of the day came while I was using the bathroom listening to Peacemaker by Green Day. Song pumped me up to see Green Day! I got on Facebook, and the news broke that Green Day would postpone some dates on their tour.

My heart shattered. The thing I was looking forward to the most was done. My Green Day obsession came back, and that was incredible. We were so close to seeing our boys and boom it gets taken away. I had changed my exam days and requested the day off of work. I did so much for that day for nothing. Hope the guys feel better

The highlight of my week was giving a little kid a yugioh card, and she got so happy! So I guess today wasn’t so bad since I made someone happy.

Bored To Death

One of my favorite bands Blink-182 is back with a new song titled Bored To Death. This is the first song blink-182 has released without Tom DeLonge.

At first listen, I really didn’t like the song. I thought it was average at best but I am currently listening to it now and I think the song is great other than the chorus which kinda bores me.

I am interested in Matt Skiba’s role on the new album California which will be released July 1, 2016. The band also announced a brand new tour which you can check out the dates here. I will try to attend the Tinley Park show if I find a way to go.

My 2015:Part 4

As a life-long baseball fan, October to me meant is time for the postseason! This year was more exciting than usual because the Chicago Cubs were in the playoffs. I was so convinced that this year was going to be the year they would finally win. They made it to the NLCS and were swept by the New York Mets. I was heartbroken for about 5 minutes then realized I needed to stop crying because the Cubs have a young great team and they’ll be back next season!

November is the month I was afraid of the most after my first semester of college. I had an essay due for 4 classes and tons of work to do for my math class. So during Thanksgiving Break of 2014, I stayed up till 4 am every night doing math problems, typing essays, and spending time with my family. By far the worst week, I ever had in my academic career.

Flash forward to 2015, Thanksgiving Break arrived and I had one essay to do. It made me realize this college thing isn’t as bad as people say. I could easily do all the assignments over the long break.

For Thanksgiving, I celebrated with my family. We spent the night at my house watching football and I was shopping online. Unfortunately we did not eat any turkey but we did eat Tostadas and Pozole.

My job also ended in November. Still haven’t been able to find another job but I will get my old job in the future.

December I spent the entire month applying for jobs and playing yugioh. I was trying to save up enough money so I could afford to make the trip to Atlanta for YCS Atlanta in February. I unfortunately was unable to that.

For Christmas, I spent the day with my family at my house. I got 2 pairs of Converse, headphones, 4 pairs of jeans, and 3 shirts.

New’s Years Eve I spent the day at my uncle’s house they partied hard. I’m not much of a party guy so I sat in a corner drinking Pepsi eating a box of Pizza.

My 2015: Part 3

A notable event that happened in July  was seeing Taylor Swift on her 1989 tour in Chicago. I arrived there at 1 pm because that is the time the Chicago Swiftie Squad was supposed to meet up. I did not meet up with them because I was too shy to say hello. I did end up joining them when they sang a couple of songs in the rain. After waiting for about 5 hours eating nothing but Starburst, it was time to go inside. I never heard any of the opening acts before that night. Yes, I know, I live under a rock. All of the opening acts were pretty good. Shawn Mendes was the best out of all 3 opening acts. After HAIM was finished with their set it was time for T-Swizzle.

She played almost the entire 1989 album and played some songs from Fearless and RED. The special guest for that show was Andy Grammer and they performed his hit song “Honey I’m Good.” I was completely blown away by Taylor’s performance and how she was able to have the crowd in the palm of her hand. The slide show below are the few good shots I was able to take of that night.

Nothing really interesting happened during the month of July other than getting banned on my favorite site. QiWenuF

My August much like my entire 2015 was dominated by me watching my favorite baseball team the Chicago Cubs! I even got to attend another Cubs game on August 31st. My university offered Cubs tickets for $10 and it was an offer I couldn’t refuse!  This game was extremely hard to watch. The Cubs lost 13-6 allowing 6 runs in the top of the 9th. I still had fun watching the Cubs play and spending time with my girlfriend at Wrigley. Getting lost at Wrigleyville was interesting as well. August also meant going back to school I took 4 classes during the Fall 2015 semester.

That night while I was going home I missed the last bus to my house. I waited for 30 minutes for a bus to come by and nothing. I went inside a CVS to ask for the time since I did not have a working cell phone. The employee told me it was midnight and no more buses would be running. I walked back to school prepared to find a place to sleep outside. As I was I walking to school some lady pulled over and asked if I was lost. I explained to her I was only looking for a way back home. She let me use her phone and I called my mother to come pick me up. I’m so grateful that she pulled over.

August also meant going back to school I took 4 classes during the Fall 2015 semester.

On September 19th, I went to my 3rd Cubs game of the year! I sat pretty close to the Cubs bullpen and even had a short conversation with Justin Grimm. I finally got to see the Cubs win and it was my first Cubs-Cardinals game I attended. The game ended with this amazing play by Cubs shortstop Addison Russell.

My 2015: Part 2

On April 7th while hanging out with friends at school, I received an e-mail that offered me a job! I was so pumped considering how bad my job interview went last month.I still hate the Big Bang Theory! It was my first job since in three years. I was excited to finally be getting money again. Oscar the student caller.

On April 11th, I attended my first YCS event. My uncle drove us out to the convention center in Rosemont Illinois. I was excited yet nervous to be playing with some of the best players from North America. I played yugioh for many hours just to prepare for this event. I was ready! The day didn’t go exactly how I envisioned it. I ended 6-3 after day 1 and was one point away from reaching my goal of making it to day 2. I had no chance to top the tournament in round 7 against a Burning Abyss player who previous went to the World Championship. I won game 1 and lost game 2 and 3 when he flipped Torrential Tribute to put him back in the game. After playing cautiously all day, I let my aggressiveness beat me.

Other than not doing so well in the tournament I had tons of fun! I met Korey McDuffie, Starstrike Duelist, Patrick Hoban and other well-known players in the community. I also got to hang out with my friends Aaron, Ahmad, Mohammed, N’Yasha, and my little brother.

April 17th was a pretty eventful day. I was pumped because Kris Bryant was going to make his debut for the Chicago Cubs. There was so much hype because of this and made Cubs fans happy seeing him in the big leagues. Unfourtunalty he went 0-4 with 3 strikeouts striking out in his first 3 at-bats.

I skipped class so I could watch Kris Bryant play. When class was over my classmate Liz told me what happened in class, and she watched the Cubs game with me. She didn’t understand much about baseball so I tried to explain the best I could. I thought it was cool she would watch the Cubs with me. I had to leave while the game was on so I could go to training for work.

After work, I went back to school to hang out with Liz. I told her I would go attend a flute concert with her. While we waited for the concert to begin we watched movies. After a while, I realized she was cool. I always thought she was cute and I previously asked her on a date before so I asked her if she wanted to be my girlfriend and she agreed. We didn’t go to the flute concert, but we did hang out with friends at a video game tournament at school. The night ended with her mom giving me a ride home.

May to me meant the end of my second semester of college. I passed all of my classes. I was ready for summer break so I could catch up on all the sleep I didn’t get during the semester.

I attended my first Cubs game of the 2015 season on May 27th. The Cubs vs Nationals. I watched Max Scherzer go head-to-head with Jon Lester and have a strikeout fest. Unfortunately, the Cubs lost 3-0, but I did enjoy my time at Wrigley. Bryce Harper was signing autographs in my section and I regret not walking up to say hello that day.

Nothing really happened during the month of June. I was extremely stressed out at this time. My job ended and I was moving at the end of the month. It was depressing moving into a new a home after living in the same house for the last 16 years.
